IT WAS a fundraiser of a different kind as pub-goers walked on hot coals for charity.
The Northcote Hotel, in Francis Avenue, Southsea, held the event which saw 14 people walk on hot coals six times to raise money for the Little Heroes Cancer Trust.
Organised by landlord of the pub Barry Kewell, the charity do raised £1,600.
Barry, 65, said: ‘We saw a flyer advertising the fire walk.
‘The darts team said they would be up for it so I set about organising it.’
The coal and wood had to burn for two hours and reached 1,000C.
Barry added: ‘It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
‘I was a little bit nervous but no-one suffered any major burns – just a few blisters.
‘It was a really fantastic evening and we were so proud of how much we managed to raise.
‘I managed to raise £500 because I think everyone wanted to see the landlord burn his feet.
‘Everyone said they loved it.’
