YOUNGSTERS are wanted to take part in this year’s Southsea Castle and Portsmouth and Southsea Rotary Clubs Dragon Boat Festival.

‘It’s a good, fun day involving colourful boats, fun for youth clubs and for everyone to get together and raise money for a charity,’ said Carol Jenkinson a member of the dragon boat club committee.

This year the focus is on encouraging youth teams to take part and the money collected can go to any charity of choice, or ones already listed.

The event is being held on the weekend of May 18 and 19 and will start at 10am.

The prizes will be awarded later on in the day at about 4pm.

The clubs are hoping to encourage younger people to get involved as it provides them with an opportunity to learn team-building skills.

Entry is £395 a boat and team members need to raise £50 at least to join.
