Portsmouth’s Flood Alleviation Scheme has won an award from the Institution of Civil Engineers.

The £21m scheme won a community benefit award for the south branch of south-east England. The scheme, which was finished in May 2013, involved increasing the level of protection against flooding at the Eastney Wastewater Pumping Station by diverting surface water away from the combined sewer network.

It was a joint venture between Costain, Veolia Water and MWH.
