A man who stole a bottle of vodka and a gammon joint from Aldi has been given a conditional discharge.

Zbigniew Manka admitted stealing the items from Aldi in Gamble Road, Buckland, when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court.

Manka, 50, of St Chad's Avenue, North End, was given a 12-month conditional discharge which means he will not be punished if he stays out of trouble for a year.

He was also told to pay 85 in court costs within two weeks.
