FIREFIGHTERS cut a man from his car when it came off a dual carriageway and ended up on its side down an embankment.

The incident took place on the A3, near Petersfield, at about 5.45pm on Saturday.

The car also took out a 11,000 volt power cable.

Fire rescue crews from Liphook, Cosham and Haslemere released the man while Southern Electricity Board made the power cable safe.

The man went to hospital by ambulance and the scene was cleared by 6.30pm.
