MORE than 1,000 homes were without electricity after damage caused by high winds.

Southern Electric was working round the clock, between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, after a powercut left 1,072 houses in Petersfield without power.

Extra engineers and support staff were distributed to the affected areas to repair damages and get the power back on.
