AN AWARD-WINNING author is set to visit Southsea later this week.

Orange Prize 2012 award-winning author Madeline Miller is visiting Southsea Library on Friday.

She will share her experiences of what it was like to spend a decade writing her debut novel, The Song of Achilles.

She will also talk about and read an extract from the book, answer questions and do a book signing session.

Dom Kippin, Portsmouth City Council’s literature officer, said: ‘The award-winning fiction novel is based on the story of the epic Trojan Wars, which is brilliantly told for a new generation, including Greek and Roman myths.

‘Madeline will be returning to the US, so don’t miss your chance to meet the debut award-winning author.’

Her novel has been translated into 13 different languages and was a New York Times bestseller.

Tickets cost £5 each and are on a first-come, first-served basis. It starts at 7pm.
