ANIMAL rights protesters held a march to campaign against a laboratory.

Around 60 people took part in the demonstration against Wickham Laboratories on Saturday in protest at its animal testing.

It was organised by Stop Wickham Animal Testing.

Protesters met at Christ Church Hall in Stoke Road, Gosport, before moving to the town hall to protest against the borough council.

They then moved off to the Wickham Laboratories facility in Barwell Lane, Gosport.

People who attended the march took to Facebook after the anti-vivisection event.

Steve Morgan said: ‘Very successful day in Gosport.

‘Received lots of high-fives, thanks and support from the shoppers en route.’

The protest is held each year and attracts people from across the country.

Georgie Elliott said: ‘An excellent march, a brilliant series of speeches and a satisfying demo at the council offices.’

In a statement, the firm’s technical director Chris Bishop said testing on animals is a small part of its work and it is proud of its research contribution.

The statement added a department was set up to develop tests without animals.
