DOZENS of regulars from a Southsea pub made the trip to see the navy get thrashed at the annual forces rugby match at Twickenham.
For the first time ever the Red White and Blue, in Fawcett Road, Southsea, organised a coach trip to the army versus navy game last weekend.
Many of the customers of the pub are ex-forces and go along to watch famously competitive game each year.
Around 50 got the coach to the game where the army trounced the navy 44 to 10.
Terri Halpin, manager of the Red White and Blue, said, ‘ Some of the people who drink in here used to be army and navy and go every year.
‘They used to go from another pub but that shut for a while.
‘They had a great time and they all came back here afterwards in high spirits having really enjoyed the game.’
The annual competition has been going since 1878.
