Pupils escape unhurt after school bus and car crash

A road was closed after a crash involving a school bus and a car.

The 24-year-old female driver of the car was airlifted to hospital following the collision on the A272 London Road, Durleighmarsh, near Petersfield this morning.

Police closed the road in both directions and the eastbound carriageway remains closed.

None of the 14 people on board the coach, including pupils from Churchers College, Petersfield, were hurt.

But the driver of the Ford Focus suffered serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.

There were long delays on the main road into Petersfield following the collision at 7.55am.

The road is closed to eastbound traffic and is likely to remain so until around 1pm. Westbound traffic is now able to pass the scene.
