HORNDEAN Technology College is hosting a new community recycling scheme to reduce landfill pollution.

People in Horndean can drop off different types of waste packaging that is not included in the council recycling scheme to a collection box at the college.

The project is part of a nationwide initiative set up by recycling experts TerraCycle.

Pupils at Horndean Technology College are also fundraising to support the 2Serve Trust, a charity that collects and sends old textbooks and science equipment to under-privileged schools in Africa.

Nicola Cutbush, who arranged for the collection point at the college, said: ‘We are delighted. Horndean is among the first communities in the UK to offer recycling drop off points for these materials.’
