CHILDREN have helped to plant a tree in honour of the Queen’s Diamond jubilee.

The Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Frank Jonas was there along with children from Milton Park Primary School and Wimborne Junior School.

Together they planted a white mulberry tree in Milton Park, at the junction of Goldsmith Avenue and Milton Road.

It took place during National Tree Week.

Katie Moore, assistant headteacher at Milton Park Primary School, said: ‘There were four children from our school there. They loved it. They were fascinated that you could plant a tree like that.

‘They very much liked being a part of it and they were very proud.’
