THOUSANDS of women have descended on Southsea Common to join a fight against cancer

A sea of pink spread throughout the seafront as women ran, jogged or walked in memory or in honour of a loved one at this year’s Race for Life.

Helen Tibbott is area event manager for the Portsmouth Race for Life.

She said: ‘It’s been absolutely amazing. A brilliant day with all these ladies turning up.

‘Everyone got into the spirit. The weather was beautiful. It’s been a perfect day.

‘Everyone is uniting together to fight one cause. Everyone is here for the same reasons.

‘We’re all affected by cancer. These sorts of runs do bring the spirit together and just shows people that we’re not on our own.

‘Everybody is working together trying to fight cancer.

‘I’ve had so much good feedback. The weather really helps. It’s been really beautiful.’
