PREPARATIONS are underway for an annual raft race in aid of Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service.

The race, which is organised by staff at the Castle in the Air pub, Fareham, usually brings around 15 to 20 homemade rafts to the creek to compete in the name of charity.

After the race the pub will lay on a fun day to boost funds raised, with live music performances from Fareham Revival, Eight Foot Yeti and Rag Doll.

There will also be a bouncy castle, bucking bronco, barbecue and a raffle at the event.

Chris Smith, the pub’s manager, said: ‘It’s become one of those events that people really look forward to – they line the streets to watch the race and create a festival-like atmosphere. It’s great.’

The raft race starts at 1pm on Saturday.
