Police applied to the courts to have a flat in Turner Avenue shut down

Gosport flat issued with closure order after drug-dealing reported

A burglar escaped with £5 from a house after dropping more valuable items in the garden.

The thief forced his way into a house in Albemarle Avenue, Gosport, at around 3.30am on Friday.

Entering through a ground floor kitchen window, he took an iPhone, a digital camera and a handbag.

It is thought the homeowner disturbed the burglar, as the items were found in the rear garden. A 5 note had been taken from the handbag.

'This is a very rare incident to have happened in the Elson area of Gosport,' said PC Phillip Hall.

'There may have been a few people around at this time, returning home from a night out or leaving for work.

'Please make sure that over the festive period you remain security conscious.

'Make sure all doors and windows are locked and any presents cannot be seen by people walking by.'

Anyone with information is asked to call Gosport station on 101 or 0845 0454545 or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
