HEAVY rain failed to dampen spirits at Bedhampton Mariners Cricket Club yesterday.
The club held a fundraiser for the charity Crohn’s and Colitis UK.
A planned cricket match was abandoned in favour of games of 10-yard cricket and five-a-side football, followed by an early withdrawal to the club rooms and marquee.
A raffle and barbecue helped to keep about 70 visitors entertained.
Club member Dan Barracuda said more than £2,500 was raised for the charity.
He said: ‘It’s wet, but we’ve made the most of it.
‘There’s great people here and we’re managing to have a good time anyway.’
Mr Barracuda and another member of the club, Ross Basketeer, both suffer from Crohn’s disease, which is an inflammatory bowel condition.
