Weathermen say heavy rain will see out the bank holiday Monday around Portsmouth.

Despite a bright start to today, clouds will begin to dominate during the afternoon, with rain likely by early evening.

The Met Office said that showers would get heavy as the sun went down after a day in which tempertaures are expected to peak at 14C.

Forecasters say that tomorrow it will turn drier with bright or sunny spells, although scattered, blustery showers are expected. Winds will become very strong and gusty, with gales by the afternoon, especially near coasts. Maximum temperatures will be 17C.

Wednesday will remain very windy with sunny spells and scattered heavy showers, with a chance of thunder, says the Met Office. It will be brighter, drier and less windy on Thursday and perhaps some rain on Friday.
