THE first woman to have rowed solo across the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans will be sharing her tales of daring on the high seas.
Roz Savage is appearing at Hayling Community Centre on Saturday for a talk to raise money for Hayling RNLI lifeboat station and the Langstone Cutters Gig Club, which urgently needs to buy its race boat which is currently under lease.
Roz holds four world records for ocean rowing, including being first woman to row three oceans.
She has rowed over 15,000 miles, taken around five million oarstrokes, and spent over 500 days of her life at sea in a 23-foot rowboat.
She uses her ocean rowing adventures to inspire action on the environmental challenges facing the world today.
Roz is an environmental campaigner herself. Her message is that we can all make a difference.
In 2010 she was named Adventurer of the Year by National Geographic.
The event is organised by Langstone Adventure Rowing. Tickets are £12 and can be bought in advance from the community centre, in Station Road, or by calling 07767 350512 or 07803 000745.
Doors open at 7pm.
