PEOPLE have been urged to recycle their poppies following Remembrance Day.

Used poppies can be recycled at Sainsbury’s supermarkets, from where they are returned to the Royal British Legion.

Sainsbury’s Waterlooville store manager Phil Bridgwater said: ‘The Poppy Appeal was a great success this year for fundraising and we’d like to thank everyone who contributed. With this recycling initiative, we wanted to show our customers another way they can support the Royal British Legion to ensure their poppies don’t go to waste.’

Louise Ajdukiewicz, from the Royal British Legion, said: ‘The donated poppies will either be reused or recycled, so it’s another great way for Sainsbury’s customers to support us further.’

The service will run until November 24.
