THE number of disabled parking spaces at a council offices will be limited while building work is carried out.

Alternative arrangements have been made for disabled drivers who visit Havant Borough Council’s Civic Offices from next week.

From 5pm today the car park where the bays are located will be closing until 2012.

There will be a limited number of disabled parking spaces in the south staff car park but that will not be reopened until August 2 – where refurbishment is currently being carried out.

In the meantime, disabled drivers with recognised permits will be able to park in the lay-by in the access road to the south car park

But the council has warned that between July 25 and August 1 large vehicles used by the building contractor carrying out the refurbishment, will also be using the access road.

To ensure disabled drivers safety they are encouraged to park in the main pay and display public car park next to the Leisure Centre.
