A RESTAURANT which narrowly avoided destruction after its kitchen caught fire is set to reopen.

Contractors have been working at the Buccaneer, a Harvester restaurant in The Avenue, Fareham, to repair the damage.

The fire is believed to have started due to a build up of fat in a an extractor fan at around 1.40pm on Monday, April 8.

Three fire crews, two from Fareham and one from Cosham, were called to put out the blaze. The pub is set to reopen tomorrow at 5pm.

A spokesman for Harvester said: ‘We have pulled out all the stops to get the restaurant ready to open and we are pleased to say that we are nearly there.’
