Revisit the past at event with historic films

OLD images and film footage of 1900s rural life are being showcased at an event in Chichester.

The presentation is being led by the County Record Office in the city’s Novium museum on Friday.

It includes some of the 60,000 pictures taken by photographer George Garland as well as footage from Screen Archive South East. The images, taken from the first half of the last century, show how farmers ploughed their land before the slow changeover from hand and horsepower to mechanical vehicles.

The presentation is from 2pm to 4pm. Call 01243 775 888 or email thenovium@chichester.gov.uk.
