Ride for Rowans

A CHARITY motorcycle ride was organised at a burger bar last weekend to raise money for The Rowan’s Hospice.

Sam Bray, owner of Route 66 burger bar in Portsmouth, put together the event with Susan Jones.

The four-hour journey was in memory of their friend, Julie Cunningham, who died of cancer in January and spent her last few days at the hospice. On Sunday, 30 bikers took part in the ride to Arundel and back, raising more than £150. Sam said: ‘Before Julie passed away the team at The Rowans Hospice made her last few years really count by arranging activities with her husband and two children. Those memories were so important to her and this bike ride was our way of recognising what they had done and to say thank you.’
