HEAVY rain and wind have forced the cancellation of an open day at the RNLI Portsmouth Lifeboat Station.

Aaron Gent, the station’s press officer, said the open day at the station in Ferry Road, Eastney, was not going ahead due to safety concerns.

He said: ‘Most of the road is closed down here and it’s gusting at force eight, which is very quick.

‘It’s disappointing, but at the end of the day these things happen.

‘The weather is something that we can’t control, we just have to work around it.’
