HUNDREDS of pounds have been donated to a charity from kindhearted Rotarians.

The Fareham Meon Rotary Club presented a cheque for £500 to Simon Says, a charity that provides support to children who have lost siblings and parents who have lost children.

Sharon Noble, from Asda in Fareham, collected the cheque on behalf of the charity.

Brian Ray, from the Rotary Club, said: ‘As part of a deal for allowing the club to collect outside the store at Christmas, one day’s collection was donated to Asda’s choice of charity.

‘Asda chose Simon Says. It is a great charity that was named after the tragic death of the father of a little child - Simon Stanley.

‘It was started by his widow. When she found there was no appropriate child-focused bereavement support organisation locally, she started one.’
