A DINNER event will commemorate the centenary of the Battle of the Somme.

The Royal British Legion has organised the charity event at its Hayling Island branch on November 18.

Residents of the island who are related to the men who fought in the battle have been invited to the event in Legion Road.

They will be joined by the Mayor of Havant, Councillor Faith Ponsonby, and her consort Michael Ponsonby, on the 100th anniversary of the ending of the battle.

A two-course meal will be served, alongside live music entertainment and a raffle.

Tickets cost £15 for the dinner, which starts at 7.30pm, and are available to buy at the club bar or online at
