THE friend of a mum, whose daughter is battling with cancer, is running the London Marathon to raise money for the family.

Sam Saunderson, of Lincoln Road, Fratton, hadn’t planned to run the 26-mile course for charity. But when she heard the plight of schoolmate Becci Challoner’s daughter Chloe, nine, she decided she would get sponsored.

Chloe suffers from osteosarcoma – a form of bone cancer.

Sam, 34, a store manager, said: ‘I want to raise money for the family as I was really sad to hear what about what the family was going through and want to help.’

The London Marathon takes place on April 17.

To sponsor Sam visit the Connaught Arms pub, Guildford Road, Fratton, to find out more.
