RESCUERS had to chase a yacht across the Solent after the lone sailor on board fell off.
The Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (Gafirs) was called to reports of a man in the water about a mile off Browndown in Gosport this morning.
His yacht had been put on auto-pilot to sail to Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
But a passing vessel caused a wash which knocked him off the boat.
Luckily for the sailor, he had been spotted by a passing dredger, the Goole Star and was plucked out of the water.
The Gafirs crew then picked him up and reunited him with the yacht, which had sailed a mile.
