Record-breaking quadriplegic sailor Geoff Holt has inspired a new charity to help other people with disabilities take to the water.
Geoff lives in St Anne’s Lane, in Shedfield, near Fareham, and has been in a wheelchair since a swimming accident.
He has been appointed the first ambassador of the Disabled Powerboat Trust, a charity which was launched at the London Boat Show.
‘It doesn’t matter how people get onto the water,’ he said. ‘It is actually being on the water that excites people and puts a smile on their faces.’
