A GROUP of trainee sailors have been getting stuck in to give a disability charity’s home a fresh new look.

Members of Victory squadron from HMS Collingwood, the navy’s training base in Fareham, have spent the week helping redecorate the town’s Shopmobility Centre in the Osborn Road multi-storey car park. The site has not been redecorated since opening about a decade ago, and the revamp is part of an overall update to the service, which loans out mobility aids and gives advice.

Manager Jessica Wooldridge said: ‘I was able to get the paint donated by B&Q, and HMS Collingwood agreed to help us with the painting.

‘They’ve been a lovely bunch and they’ve done a wonderful job.

‘I think we’ve got a good reputation with the people who use us, but we would like to let more people know what we do. You don’t need to be registered disabled, or even long-term disabled to use us.’
