STARTING a new salon in today’s economic climate is a bit of a gamble.

For hair salon Headromance, that gamble has certainly paid off.

The salon opened in May last year and has quickly gained a reputation for being one of the best places for a haircut in Havant.

It started with a team of three and has quickly grown to ten stylists.

Owners Emily Warne and Peter Gibbs both say that having a successful salon is a ‘dream come true’.

Emily and Peter, both 26, from Hayling Island, met each other at primary school and have been firm friends ever since.

Peter said: ‘I think the secret to our success is our great partnership and friendship.’

Emily said: ‘We know it sounds cheesy but there is absolutely nothing we would change about Headromance, it’s what we’ve always dreamed of and more.’

The duo decided to name the salon Headromance as they felt it denoted self-confidence.

And its clients can’t talk highly enough of their experiences.

Pauline Scutt said: ‘It’s more than a hair salon – it’s a group of talented individuals who quickly inspire interest and confidence in their clients.’

Last year, the team had a taste of our Hair and Beauty Awards as Emily was shortlisted for best female stylist. The whole team went along to celebrate and would love to go again.

Peter said: ‘It was amazing. It was a really incredible evening and it was nice to mix with other local salons.’

This year, the salon has been nominated in the best start-up category.

Peter said: ‘To win would mean we were being rewarded for all the hard work we have put in.’

The awards are being held in June and are being presented by TV star and hair and beauty expert Amy Childs.
