A SATELLITE components company which has its UK base in Portsmouth has been taken over.

Alter Technology Group, which has bases in Spain, Italy and France, as well as at 1000 Lakeside in Northarbour, is now part of TUV Nord Group.

ATG is a market leader in the selection, procurement, testing and certification of electronic components for satellites, and had a revenue of around £52.8m last year.

TUV has more than 10,000 employees in over 70 countries across the globe.

TUV’s broad consulting, service and inspection portfolio encompasses both specific individual tests and inspections and also management of complex safety solutions.

Dr Guido Rettig, CEO of TÜV Nord Group, said: ‘This is a great success for our Group, and I congratulate all concerned.

‘I took a look at ATG in Spain last year, and talked to a lot of people.

‘I was very impressed by the competence of the management and staff, and by the company’s innovations in satellite technology.

‘ATG fits into our group very well.’
