TWO Portsmouth students are the latest recipients of the Wilkie Scholarship award.

The scholarship set up by Brian Wilkie, pictured, provides students from Mayfield School, in Mayfield Road, the opportunity to succeed regardless of their family’s financial situation.

This year’s recipients Lucy Burroughs and Faith Menkah, are the fourth pair to be granted the scholarship into Portsmouth Grammar School.

Mr Wilkie, who attended Mayfield School between 1960 and 1966, visited the grammar school to present the girls with their scholarships.

He said: ‘My aim is to help young people become successful. I hope that both Lucy and Faith will enjoy the opportunities offered at The Portsmouth Grammar School, and go on to fulfil their own expectations.’

Portsmouth Grammar school boasts a high percentage of students moving on to higher education.
