A SHOP will be inviting characters from a galaxy far, far away to help a colleague go to Zambia.

Specsavers, in Cosham High Street, will be having a storm trooper and R2-D2, from Star Wars, visiting the store.

Customers will also get to meet the Predator from the sci-fi movie series and have an opportunity to have their photograph taken with them.

The characters will be in the store on April 27 between 9.30am and 3pm.

Also paying the shop a visit between midday and 1pm are five baby meerkats and a raccoon courtesy of a company called Peculiar Encounters.

Half the money raised will go to help trainee optometrist, Manoj Bector, from the Cosham branch, with his trip to Zambia with Vision Aid Overseas where he will be joined by other colleagues.

The other half will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
