SCOUTS have been given a £20,000 boost from the council.

The 3rd Portchester Scout Group, which meets at Cobham Hall in White Hart Lane, was successful in its bid for cash from Fareham Borough Council.

At its latest executive meeting the council agreed to match the scouts’ request for funding, meaning the group will now spend £40,000 upgrading its toilets, kitchen, storage, flooring and disability access.

The council’s match-funding grants are available for community organisations’ projects.
