LETTER OF THE DAY: The fly-tipping blight

MEMBERS of Scouts and Guides groups in Bishop’s Waltham have been helping to renovate a youth centre.

The youngsters spent two days renovating the youth hall in Winchester Road in the village.

It closed several years ago as there was no-one to run the youth club.

But when it became obvious that there was a need for it, the scout and guide leaders and offered to help.

Nicola Gilbert, guide leader, said: ‘We thought we had a few weeks to get organised but the youth leaders told us that they were anxious to open up as a youth club in the middle of March so we had to purchase all the paint and materials and arrange for all our members to come and help.

‘It has been very hard work but we are amazed with what we have achieved in the time.’

All members who took part will receive a specially designed badge representing the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
