RESIDENTS are being encouraged to come to Guildhall Square, Portsmouth to watch the Paralympic Games.

Events at the games will be shown on the big screen, and members of the public can watch them all for free.

Building on the success of Team GB in the recent Olympic Games, Paralympics GB aim to secure more than 100 medals at the games and finish second in the medals table as they did in Beijing in 2008.

Crowds of people turned up in the square to watch last night’s opening ceremony, which started with a fly past by Aerobility – a British charity that trains disabled people to become pilots.
