Have your say

HAVE you ever wanted to see the fiery surface of the sun?

Well, now is your opportunity and it won’t cost you a penny.

A free solar observing day for the public is being held at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, off the A3 near Clanfield, on Sunday.

It takes place from 11am to 5pm and has been organised by astronomy group HantsAstro.

Sharon Rose, from HantsAstro, said: ‘Come along and join us on the visitor centre patio to observe our nearest star using some of the latest large solar telescopes available.

‘These are telescopes with special filters that enable you to safely look at the sun.

‘Local solar experts from HantsAstro will answer any questions and advise you how to modify your own telescope or binoculars to view the sun.

‘There will be shows in the visitor centre theatre and also live images of the sun, weather permitting.’
