THE opening of a new restaurant in Havant will create 70 new jobs from this spring.

Greene King will be operating the new Farmhouse Inn family restaurant which is under construction at Langstone Road, adjacent to the Langstone Technology Park.

Fasset, which manages Langstone Technology Park, has worked with Greene King and Havant Borough Council to ensure local people will benefit from employment provided by the development.

An employment and skills plan was put together last year, which ensures that all recruitment will be carried out locally by Jobcentre Plus.

Councillor Yvonne Weeks, who is responsible for economy and communities in Havant, said: ‘The introduction of employment and skills plans for major developments by Havant Borough Council is an innovative approach that ensures local people
will benefit from these new jobs.’

Planning permission has also been granted for a budget hotel at the same site. Construction of the hotel will begin at a later date.
