FRANK Sinatra songs will soon be heard at a shopping centre to help raise funds for Help for Heroes.

Singer Vince Hall, who specialises in tunes by the famous Rat Pack member, will take to the square in Gunwharf Quays on Saturday to perform some of his favourite tunes.

The ex-Royal Navy petty officer will also be collecting donations for the military charity in tins and selling Help for Heroes wristbands on behalf of the organisation.

Mr Hall, who has been raising money for the cause for years, said: ‘I was in the Falklands War serving on-board HMS Bristol and lost a lot of friends out there, so I’m doing this for them.

‘I’m just praying that the weather holds up so that I can raise as much money as possible for the charity.

‘Portsmouth has a strong connection to the military so I’m really hoping people will get behind me and donate what they can.’

Mr Hall will also sing songs by Santana and Nat King Cole at the one-man show in the shopping centre.

‘I was in the navy for 19 years before I left it to become a professional singer, but that’s where it all started,’ he added. ‘I used to sing at the traditional sods operas – shows staged on ships – and it just grew from there. I loved the entertainment side of it and realised it was what I wanted to do.’

Mr Hall will be singing in the centre’s square from 11am to 5pm.
