SINGERS are invited to take part in a weekly music night at a pub.
Members of ‘Just Sing’ meet in the room above the Square Brewery in Petersfield at 8pm every Thursday except the third Thursday of each month.
Director Steve Sargent said: ‘I believe that everyone can sing, and if they sing in the car or in the shower, then they’ll get on just fine in this group. Just like having a drink, if you sing with other people, it’s all so much better. And, to prove that point, most of the singers bring a glass of beer, gin or coffee upstairs at the start of the session. Not many choir practices are run like that!
‘We’re entering our third year, which is very pleasing for an informal group. People come whenever they can; we sing a wide range of songs which are taught by ear, although there is sheet music available too. It’s all unaccompanied and in harmony and the best bit is to see the look on everyone’s faces when all the parts come together and make a fantastic sound.’
He added: ‘At Christmas we go downstairs and sing in the bar to our families, friends and whoever happens to be there.’
Just Sing resumes on September 11.
