COMMUTERS faced delays yesterday after a broken-down train stopped services between Portsmouth Harbour and Havant.

Passengers were forced to use replacement buses while the failure was dealt with.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue was called in about 2pm after a train’s breaks overheated and it had to stop.

Smoke was spotted above the tracks and South West Trains reported there was a fire by the side of the line.

TRAIN delays are expected between the Portsmouth Harbour and Havant line after brakes overheated.

South West Trains has warned passengers of the delays after smoke appeared near the Hilsea Line this afternoon.

Services running to and from Portsmouth Harbour and Havant may be delayed or revised at short notice.

A spokesman from Hampshire Fire and Rescue said they were called at 2pm after overheated brakes caused smoke on the lines.
