CHILDREN got the chance to get up close to nature as a travelling petting farm stopped off at a garden centre.

The event was held on Thursday at Garsons Garden Centre in Fontley Road, Titchfield, and saw scores of visitors enjoy the show.

The mobile petting farm brought with it a pair of alpacas, lambs, piglets, ducklings and kid goats.

Centre manager Mike Parsons said; ‘The baby animals were so friendly and good-natured about being stroked and petted.

‘The kid goats made us laugh by trying to nibble on everything.

‘It was a great time of year to have the farm visit, just after when the animals have had their young.’

Scores of customers also enjoyed a free hanging basket demonstration on Saturday, where they were shown how to create a beautiful display.

The next free event at the centre is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, from 10am until 1pm, where enthusiastic gardeners can pick up tips on growing herbs.
