MOTORISTS faced delays on the M27 this morning due to a lorry fire.

The incident saw crews from Fareham and Hightown fire stations called to the hard shoulder of the eastbound M27 between Windhover and Park Gate.

A lorry had been reported as being on fire due to a blown turbo in the engine causing plumes of smoke to drift across the motorway.

The inside lane of the motorway, near to Junction 9, was blocked due to the incident.

Nobody was hurt and the fire crews were not needed although the incident caused tailbacks for commuters.

All lanes have now reopened.
