Snowdrops by candlelight

  • by Kimberley Barber

MORE THAN 100 people raised £1,000 for charity at a walk in Swanmore.

The Snowdrops by Candlelight event raised the cash in aid of the Swanmore Festival, to be held in June.

Organiser Jenny Maunder said: ‘It was a great success and those who visited the garden enjoyed themselves in spite of the cold weather.

‘At least it was dry and so the candles stayed alight even though it took nearly an hour to light them all!’

Visitors followed a candlelit walk around the garden at Hill Farm House, Swanmore, and enjoyed the snowdrops and hellebores in a magical setting.

This was followed by food, a glass of mulled wine and a talk by Mark Lyman from the Hardy Plant Society.

Further fundraising events will be held over the next few months for this charity.
