A PERSON who is passionate about the preserving the heritage of the countryside is being sought.

The South Downs National Park Authority is seeking a new member to join its governing body.

Trevor Beattie, chief executive of the South Downs National Park, said: ‘This is an exciting time to join the South Downs National Park. The successful applicant will take a strategic role in shaping the future of the National Park Authority as we work closely with our partners to develop a five-year management plan.’

The member will be appointed by the Secretary of State.

He or she would be expected to commit a minimum of two to three days per month.

They are not paid for this work, but are able to claim allowances. Applicants have until Friday 16 November to apply. For more information email or call (01730) 811141.
