A CASINO has sailed past its fundraising target for cancer patients in just six months.

Staff at Grosvenor Casino in Osborne Road, Southsea, have raised more than £2,259.10 for Marie Curie Cancer Care this year alone – well above the £1,500 target.

Fundraisers included a cake bake, an endurance darts match, raffles, and a charity fun casino.

Conor Toner, general manager, said: ‘We never cease to be amazed by the team spirit and generosity of both our team members and customers. The charity partnership has been something that all of our team members have embraced and we’re so in awe of the work that the Marie Curie Nurses do. We look forward to continuing to raise funds for such a worthy cause throughout the rest of 2011.’

Grosvenor Casinos are partnered with the charity to raise money for 31,000 terminally-ill patients in the UK.
