CEREMONIAL doves will be released to recognise those who have suffered from asbestos-related cancer.

Action Mesothelioma Day, which was launched in 2006, was created to raise awareness of the disease, which is a form of cancer.

The Hampshire Asbestos Support and Awareness Group is hosting the dove release outside The Queen’s Hotel, in Clarence Parade, Southsea.

A public meeting will follow, speakers include Debbie Brewer, a mesothelioma sufferer and Dr Adrian Dobbs, who will be representing The June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund.

Refreshments will be served.

The event takes place on Friday, July 6, at noon.
