TOMORROW’S Thai Food Festival in Southsea has been cancelled due to the fear that torrential storms will hit the south coast.

Organisers Thai Solent Society have issued a statement on Facebook saying it has had no choice but to pull the plug on the event that was due to happen on Castle Field.

Sue Mayne, of the society, said the festival would be re-scheduled at a later date.

‘We have had to cancel it because of the bad weather,’ she said.

‘We are very disappointed by this.

‘The weather that has been forecast will prove too much for us.’

Hurricane Bertha is expected to hit the south-coast tomorrow, and weather experts say Portsmouth will face heavy showers, thunderstorms and winds of up to 30mph.
