A SERVICE is to be held to mark the 200th anniversary of the baptism of Charles Dickens.

The world-renowned writer was baptised at St Mary’s, Portsea Parish Church on March 4, 1812, and the font used for his baptism is now in St Alban’s Church, Copnor Road, Copnor. To celebrate the bicentenary year of this anniversary, St Alban’s church is holding a service on Sunday from 10.30am.
